Houston, TX

Emergency line open 24/7

(713) 555-0142

Smoke, fire, sparking or someone hurt? Leave the area and call 911 before anything else. Do not touch wet or damaged electrical equipment.

Problems we handle

  • Partial or total loss of power that is not a utility outage
  • A breaker that trips immediately every time you reset it
  • Outlets or switches that are hot, discolored or buzzing
  • Flickering or dimming across several rooms at once
  • Water near the panel, outlets or wiring after a storm
  • Exposed or damaged wiring you cannot safely avoid

Why call instead of waiting

Electrical faults rarely fix themselves. A breaker that keeps tripping, an outlet that is running hot or wiring damaged by water can get worse with use. Calling early lets us help you make the home safe and arrange the right service.

When you call, have a few details ready: what you noticed first, which rooms are affected, whether any breakers have tripped, and whether there is any smell, heat or visible damage.

What happens when you contact us

  1. Make the area safe

If you see smoke, fire or sparking, leave the area and call 911. If it is safe, switch off the affected circuit at the panel.

  2. Call Ranger

Tell us what you are seeing, hearing or smelling. We will ask a few questions to understand how urgent it is.

  3. Get a plan

We explain the next step and arrange service. We do not promise an arrival time we cannot keep.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Anything that creates a risk of shock or fire: burning smells, hot or scorched outlets, sparking, exposed wiring, water near electrical equipment, or a breaker that will not stay on. If there is smoke, fire or immediate danger, call 911 before calling us.

Should I turn off my main breaker?

If you can reach the panel safely and you are not standing in water, switching off the affected circuit or the main breaker can reduce risk while you wait. Never touch a panel that is wet, sparking or hot.

How fast can someone come out?

It depends on the time of day, your location and the work already scheduled. When you call, we will give you an honest answer rather than a guessed arrival time.

Is my power outage an electrical emergency or a utility problem?

If your neighbors are also without power, it is most likely a utility outage, and CenterPoint Energy is the right contact. If only your home or part of your home has lost power, call us.
