Problems we handle
- Outlets or switches that stopped working
- Lights that flicker, dim or surge
- Power that cuts in and out on one circuit
- GFCI outlets that trip or will not reset
- Switches or outlets that are warm to the touch
- Fixtures that buzz or burn out bulbs quickly
How we approach a fault
We start with what you have noticed, then test methodically from the panel to the device. The goal is to find the actual cause, whether that is a failed device, a loose connection, a tripped GFCI further up the circuit or a problem in the wiring itself.
Once we know the cause, we explain it and give you the cost of the repair before doing the work.
What happens when you contact us
-
Describe the symptoms
When it happens, which rooms, and what else is running. Patterns help narrow the search.
-
Methodical diagnosis
We test circuits, devices and connections to locate the actual fault, not just the symptom.
-
Repair with your approval
We explain what we found and what it will take to fix before we do the work.
Frequently asked questions
Why did half my outlets stop working?
Often a GFCI outlet upstream has tripped and is cutting power to the outlets after it. Check bathrooms, the kitchen, the garage and exterior outlets for a GFCI with a tripped reset button. If resetting does not help, there may be a loose connection or a failed device.
Are flickering lights dangerous?
A single flickering bulb is usually the bulb or fixture. Flickering across several rooms, or when large appliances start, can point to a loose connection or a service problem and should be checked.
What if the problem is intermittent?
Intermittent faults are common and can be harder to pin down. Note when the problem happens and what was running. That information speeds up diagnosis.
